Safia Rice Mills, Sahiwal 740 kW DSG Solar Energy System Installation – Case Study

Number of rice mills around the country contribute 8% to the world’s total rice trade and subsequently to country’s economy. Safia Rice Mills has decided to give back to the country additionally by caring for the environment through adding solar energy to its energy mix with help of DSG Energy’s 746kW Solar Solution which promises an estimated annual energy production of 1080 MWh which will help the environment by reducing 930 tons of carbon reduction.

This 740 kW installation by DSG comprises of advanced half cell technology 440 kW Canadian solar panels and the highly efficient Huawei 60 KTL Invertor with a cloud-based monitoring system available which makes monitoring of plant production easier than ever. The unique feature about this installation that makes it stand out in the region is its specially designed groundbased, hot dip galvanized, and absolutely corrosion free piling structure. The innovation in this installation is the addition of high tech transformer which steps us the power coming from solar panels to 11 kVa and patches it in transmission lines through HT panel. Overall the system was carefully customized after analyzing Safia rice mills’ energy needs, space, and geographical location. Safia Rice Mills 740 kW DSG Solar Power Plant was successfully completed and commissioned in a short time span of 1.5 months. To keep the flag of DSG Green Eco Squad (a CSR initiative of DS Group fighting against climate change) trees were also planted on the occasion by team DSG and team Safia Rice Mills, symbolizing the beginning of a green era.

DSG with its expertise in customized solutions for mega structure client’s customized the best possible 2 MW system for CPBM. The very base of installation is the design of its structure. Designing the structure for doom based roofs was not a piece of cake but team DSG did a great job with the specially designed hot-dip galvanized structures which guarantee durability. The system consists of 440 W Half Cell Technology Solar Panels which are high in their line due to excellent efficiency. To ensure consumer safety and promise maximum possible efficiency Huawei 60 KTL invertors were used. The installation was quite challenging for DSG Team considering Covid-19 situations at that time of year.

The project was inaugurated with pomp and show at Century Paper & Board Mills followed by a training session for Team CPBM so that they can understand the system of cloud-based monitoring and energy production patterns. It was necessary to equip team CPBM with the knowledge of how they can monitor their energy
production to ensure complete transparency in terms of customer service.

DSG Energy has always stayed on the idea of purpose before profits so under the umbrella of CSR Initiative “DSG Green Eco Squad” trees were planted at Century Paper & Board Mills symbolizing the prevailing of green energy and a greener future ahead.

This promising solution is all set to produce an estimated 2900 MWh of clean energy which will contribute to Century Paper & Board Mills’ vision to Go Environment Friendly through 2500 tons of CO2 Reduction complying

Our recent project of solar energy solution system of 576 kW at Lahore Medical and Dental College is one of its own kind. It will not only fulfill their energy needs but will also inspire other Academic institutes to take their practically literate step to save the environment by switching to renewable energy sources.

We have installed a specially designed on-grid battery less solution by critically analyzing LMDC’s energy needs and rooftop situation. The main challenge overcame by our proactive team was that since the institution had number of different roofs so arranging the panels in a such way that shading effect can be minimized was not a piece of cake. Along the panels, the strings also were to be designed in such a way that they connect different roofs. 360 W Solar panels with advanced half cell technology were used in this process. Half cell technology no doubt reduces internal resistance and results in increased module output and shade tolerance. Taking care of our consumers’ safety we used completely fuse free and reliable Huawei 60 KTL inverter with a high efficiency rate of 98.7%.

At DSG we believe in total transparency that is why we always install a special cloud based monitoring system NETECO powered by Huawei, which enables our clients to monitor their system and keep a check on their system even remotely. Overall the structure of project is cot dip galvanized which makes it completely corrosion resistant. The cables used in installation are single core dual PVC cables which are lifelong durable.

The best thing about this project that it is net metered project. Since the energy consumption hours are only college hours so all the energy produced after that will be exported back to WAPDA and will in turn benefit LMDC

This magnificent project installed by DSG Energy (Pvt) Ltd in a short time of 3 months resulted in Lahore Medical and Dental College being energy independent institution. The energy consumption of LMDC has been reduced to 60% .We are thankful to Lahore Medical and Dental College for endowing us this opportunity and taking the necessary step towards brighter future.
But the point of consideration is that there are number of other academic institutions which are also liable of making necessary change in their energy consumption patterns to save Pakistan from being energy deficit and more importantly to save environment.

DSG with its expertise of providing turnkey solar solutions customized the best possible 1.2 MW Grid Tied Solar Solution by carefully analyzing MSM’s energy needs, geographical position and roof conditions. Although MSM observes a very good geographical location being situated in lands of southern Punjab but the roofs of textiles mill have always been a tricky site for solar panel installation. Special hot dip galvanized structure was designed by our team of experienced civil engineers for the beam to beam layout of solar panels. Hot dip galvanized structures are also known for their durability being corrosion free. This cutting edge system comprises of 390 W

Half Cell Technology Canadian Solar Panels which are best in terms of efficiency. A total of almost 2900 panels was installed. Our consumer’s safety and comfort is always our first priority hence we used completely fuse free and reliable Huawei 60 KTL inverters which are world famous for a high efficiency rate of 98.7%. On the whole 16 invertors were installed in this solution DSG believes in transparency and enables cloud based monitoring system NETECO powered by Huawei for its valuable clients so that they can monitor energy and its patterns on their own remotely. 

It will be not wrong to say that installation of this project was a challenging one for team DSG. Our crew of site engineers and technicians pushed themselves to their limit for completion of this project even in the Covid-19 lockdown situation. Another challenge was to connect scattered roofs as one system was on Unit 1 of MSM and other one was on warehouse of MSM. Special underground string cables were used for this purpose.

The outcomes of this solar solution are as expected, amazing. The goal of producing abundant but clean and safe energy has been achieved by MSM. The expected energy yield of this magnificent solar solution is around 1840 MWh. Moreover, the carbon footprint of MSM will be reduced by 1600 tons per annum with this installation. This installation will not only meet the energy requirements of Mahmood Spinning Mill Limited but it will also prevail idea of choosing safe and sustainable energy in others
